World Press Photo of the year 2015 (by Mads Nissen)

El jurado internacional del 58 premio World Press Photo ha comunicado hoy una foto de Mads Nissen como la World Press Photo del año 2015.

La imagen muestra a Jon y Alex, una pareja gay, durante un momento íntimo en San Petersburgo, Rusia. La vida para las personas lesbianas, gays, bisexuales o transgénero (LGBT) en Rusia se está convirtiendo en algo cada vez más difícil. La fotografía fue realizada con una cámara Canon EOS 5D Mark III.

The international jury of the 58th World Press Photo Contest named today a photo by Mads Nissen as the World Press Photo of the Year 2015.

The picture shows Jon and Alex, a gay couple, during an intimate moment in St Petersburg, Russia. Life for lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) people is becoming increasingly difficult in Russia. The photo was taken with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III.

Desde los tejados de Teherán // From the rooftops of Tehran (by Pietro Masturzo, 2009)

La elegida “foto del año World Press Photo 2010” pertenece a un joven fotógrafo freelance napolitano de 30 años llamado Pietro Masturzo. “No puedo creerlo, no tengo palabras… ¿va en serio?” dijo mientras respondía a la llamada de Michiel Munneke, director general de la fundación neerlandesa World Press Photo. 10.000 euros, una cámara réflex de gama profesional de Canon y el prestigio de este galardón es el sueño de los que optan a los World Press Photo y a la mejor foto del año. Su imagen está tomada en un atardecer iraní tras las elecciones presidenciales de junio de 2009 y muestra a unas mujeres protestando desde los tejados de Teherán.

Los periodistas extranjeros se vieron obligados a permanecer en sus casas u oficinas durante las protestas. Masturzo estaba encerrado en su casa de Teherán cuando estas mujeres empezaron a gritar desde la azotea de enfrente. Entonces cogió su cámara e hizo la instantánea ganadora. Pero hay que tener en cuenta que esta foto forma parte de un trabajo más extenso con el título “From the rooftops of Tehran”, y si la foto ganadora no surgió de esta manera, el reportaje si lo hizo.

Según el jurado, muestra “el comienzo de algo, el principio de una gran historia”.

According to the jury, it shows “the beginning of something, the beginning of a great story.”
