Me he pasado toda la vida buscando la luz // I’ve spent a lifetime seeking the light (by Francesc Català-Roca)

Martí Català Pedersen, habla de su padre, Francesc Català-Roca:

“En 1998, año en que murió, creía firmemente que cada comarca, o al menos cada provincia, estaría celosa de cuidar su pasado fotográfico. Consciente de haber retratado muchas de las citas importantes de su vida, consuela saber que las casi 200.000 fotografías de su archivo nos sobrevivirán, en casa, sus nietos podrán hacer y rehacer la pe­lícula de su vida. La narrativa de sus fotos es, en realidad, la épica de su travesía por el desierto. Papá nos preparó para ser conscientes de este hecho. Espero que el presente libro, junto con el interés del público en las muestras de su obra, acorten el periodo de treinta años tras su muerte, que, según nos vaticinaba Francesc, haría falta que transcurriera para entender su obra.
Del final me quedo con su educada ironía positiva, socarrona, y con la frase: «Me he pasado toda la vida buscando la luz».”

“In 1998, the year he died, he firmly believed that each district, or at least every province would be jealous of its photographic past look. Realizing portrayed many of the important events of his life, it takes comfort in knowing that nearly 200,000 photographs from his file will outlive us, at home, his grandchildren will able to make and remake the movie of his life. the narrative of his photos is actually his epic journey across the desert. Dad prepared us to be aware of this fact. I hope that this book, along with public interest in the samples of his work, shorten the period of thirty years after his death, which, as Francesc predicted it would have to elapse to understand his work.
I prefer the end of their irony educated positive, sly, and with the phrase: «I’ve spent a lifetime seeking the light».”
