En junio de 1957 nacía en Madrid, Bárbara Allende Gil de Biedma (Ouka Lele). Ya desde una temprana edad tuvo un especial interés por la fotografía y con tan sólo 18 años algunas de sus obras ya mostraban gran calidad para la crítica.
En 1978 se trasladó a Barcelona y allí comenzó a trabajar de una forma peculiar. Realizaba fotografías en blanco y negro y después pintaba sobre ellas con acuarela dotándolas de color. Esta peculiaridad la ha continuado teniendo hasta hoy y es una de las características de la artista.
El comienzo de su carrera coincidía también con el auge de un movimiento cultural que iba más allá de la música y tocaba todas las artes, como fue la “movida madrileña”.

Ouka Leele en sus inicios pensó en entrar en la escuela de Bellas Artes pero por diversas circunstancias no pudo y finalmente optó por la fotografía de la que es autodidacta: “De entre todos los avances tecnológicos me fue regalada la fotografía como arma secreta para descubrir el misterio, yo le añadía los colores y se los sigo añadiendo, pues me devuelven la vida que a veces ignorante dejo escapar”.

In June 1957, Barbara Allende Gil de Biedma (Ouka Lele) was born in Madrid. Since an early age had a special interest in photography and with only 18 years some of her work already showed great quality for art critics.
In 1978 she moved to Barcelona where she began working in a peculiar way. Shooting in black and white and then painted with watercolors over them by giving them color. This peculiarity has continued until today and is having one of the characteristics of the artist.
The beginning of her career also coincided with the rise of a cultural movement that went beyond music and played all the arts, as was the “Madrid movida”

Ouka Lele thought in the beginning to enter the School of Fine Arts but failed for various reasons and finally chose the photograph of which is self-taught: “Among all the technological advances I was given the photography as a secret weapon to discover the mystery, I added the colors and still adding as they back to me the life I sometimes let out ignorant.”
