El eje temático de “Combatiendo la Nada” gira en torno a la figura de la mujer en una clara deferencia a ésta en su lucha por la supervivencia, sus derechos y su libertad. La muestra nos sumerge en un viaje por diferentes culturas en el que Cristina García Rodero, a través de la visión de diversas mujeres, nos revela todo un espectro de emociones: documenta el dolor y el desarraigo causado por la Guerra de los Balcanes, el trance y la devoción que siente el pueblo caribeño de Haití ante la práctica de rituales ancestrales, o indaga en la intrahistoria de la España popular mostrando sus costumbres y tradiciones.
Cristina García Rodero trabaja en contextos límite, de ahí que las fiestas o rituales sean para ella un tema particularmente atrayente. La devoción religiosa va ligada a un número considerable de imágenes en esta exposición. En ella se sedimentan gestos, rituales y miradas que abarcan desde la alegría extrema al más profundo dolor. Muchos de estos eventos presuponen momentos trágicos de pérdida, de enfermedad o de fragilidad absoluta. En la cara opuesta, encontramos enlazados a esta religiosidad singular expresiones como la ternura, la risa o la liberación.
Existe, en Cristina García Rodero, la clara intencionalidad de mostrar, mediante la figura de uno o varios personajes, un hecho que congrega a un determinado grupo o sociedad captando, en esas manifestaciones colectivas los credos más diversos. Su trabajo cuestiona, a través de prácticas colectivas que implican el cuerpo, la condición del ser humano.

The main theme of “Fighting the Nothing” revolves around the figure of woman in a clear deference to her in its struggle for survival, her rights and freedom. The show takes us into a journey through different cultures in which Cristina García Rodero, through the vision of several women, reveals a spectrum of emotions: documenting the pain and displacement caused by the Balkan War, trance and devotion to the Caribbean people of Haiti to the practice of ancient rituals, and explores the inside story of Spain showing popular customs and traditions.
Cristina Garcia Rodero works in extreme contexts, hence the holidays or rituals are for her a particularly appealing. Religious devotion is linked to a number of images in this exhibition. It settles gestures, rituals and looks ranging from extreme joy to the deepest pain. Many of these events assume tragic moments of loss, illness or frailty absolute. On the opposite side, we find linked to this unique religious expressions such as tenderness, laughter or release.
It exists, in Cristina García Rodero, the clear intention of showing, through the figure of one or more characters, a fact that brings a certain group or company to raise in such collective manifestations most diverse faiths. Her work challenges, through collective practices that involve the body, the human condition.
