Aquí mi humilde pequeño homenaje a Japón. Siempre me ha atraído este país y su cultura, pero durante estos dias, mi admiración por este pueblo es mucho mayor. Saldrán de esta, seguro, y además de manera ordenada y casi sin hacer ruido. Todos los japoneses llevan en mayor o menor medida un samurai dentro. Tenemos aún mucho que aprender de ellos…
EL CODIGO DE BUSHIDO:
Estos son los siete principios que rigen el código de Bushido, la guía moral de la mayoría de samurai. Sed fieles a él y vuestro honor crecerá. Rompedlo, y vuestro nombre será denostado por las generaciones venideras.
1. GI – Honradez y Justicia.
Sé honrado en tus tratos con todo el mundo. Cree en la Justicia, pero no en la que emana de los demás, sino en la tuya propia.
Para un auténtico samurai no existen las tonalidades de gris en lo que se refiere a honradez y justicia.
Sólo existe lo correcto y lo incorrecto.
2. YU – Valor Heroico.
Álzate sobre las masas de gente que temen actuar. Ocultarse como una tortuga en su caparazón no es vivir.
Un samurai debe tener valor heroico. Es absolutamente arriesgado. Es peligroso. Es vivir la vida de forma plena, completa, maravillosa. El coraje heroico no es ciego. Es inteligente y fuerte.
Reemplaza el miedo por el respeto y la precaución.
3. JIN – Compasión.
Mediante el entrenamiento intenso el samurai se convierte en rápido y fuerte. No es como el resto de los hombres. Desarrolla un poder que debe ser usado en bien de todos.
Tiene compasión. Ayuda a sus compañeros en cualquier oportunidad. Si la oportunidad no surge, se sale de su camino para encontrarla.
4. REI – Cortesía.
Los samurai no tienen motivos para ser crueles. No necesitan demostrar su fuerza. Un samurai es cortés incluso con sus enemigos. Sin esta muestra directa de respeto no somos mejores que los animales.
Un samurai recibe respeto no solo por su fiereza en la batalla, sino también por su manera de tratar a los demás. La auténtica fuerza interior del samurai se vuelve evidente en tiempos de apuros.
5. MEYO – Honor.
El Auténtico samurai solo tiene un juez de su propio honor, y es él mismo. Las decisiones que tomas y cómo las llevas a cabo son un reflejo de quien eres en realidad.
No puedes ocultarte de ti mismo.
6. MAKOTO – Sinceridad Absoluta.
Cuando un samurai dice que hará algo, es como si ya estuviera hecho. Nada en esta tierra lo detendrá en la realización de lo que ha dicho que hará.
No ha de “dar su palabra.” No ha de “prometer.” El simple hecho de hablar ha puesto en movimiento el acto de hacer.
Hablar y Hacer son la misma acción.
7. CHUGO – Deber y Lealtad.
Para el samurai, haber hecho o dicho “algo”, significa que ese “algo” le pertenece. Es responsable de ello y de todas las consecuencias que le sigan.
Un samurai es intensamente leal a aquellos bajo su cuidado. Para aquellos de los que es responsable, permanece fieramente fiel.
Las palabras de un hombre son como sus huellas; puedes seguirlas donde quiera que él vaya.

Here my humble little tribute to Japan. I’ve always been attracted to this country and its culture, but during these days, my admiration for these people is much higher. They will come out of this, for sure, and in an orderly and almost noiselessly way. All the Japanese have inside a samurai in a greater or lesser way. We still have much to learn from them…
THE CODE OF BUSHIDO:
These are the seven principles that govern the code of Bushido, moral guidance of most samurai. Be faithful to him and grow your honor. Break it, and your name will be reviled by future generations.
1. GI – Honesty and Justice.
Be honest in your dealings with the world. Believe in justice, but not that given by others, but your own.
For a true samurai there are no shades of gray in terms of honesty and justice.
There is only right and wrong.
2. YU – Heroic Courage.
Rise above the masses of people who are afraid to act. Hiding like a turtle in its shell is not living.
A samurai must have heroic courage. It is quite risky. It is dangerous. You live life fully, complete, wonderful. Heroic courage is not blind. It’s smart and strong.
Replace fear with respect and caution.
3. JIN – Compassion.
Through intense training the samurai becomes quick and strong. It is not like other men. Develops a power that should be used for the good of all.
He has compassion. Help his colleagues at every opportunity. If opportunity does not arise, he goes out of his way to find it.
4. REI – Courtesy.
Samurai have no reason to be cruel. No need to prove their strength. A samurai is courteous even to his enemies. Without this show of respect we are no better than animals.
A samurai is not only respected for their ferocity in battle, but also by the way they treat others. The true inner strength of the samurai becomes evident in times of trouble.
5. MEYO – Honour.
The Authentic samurai has only one judge of his honour, and is himself. The choices you make and how you carry out are a reflection of who you really are.
You can not hide from yourself.
6. MAKOTO – Absolute Honesty.
When a samurai has said he will, it is as if you were already done. Nothing on this earth will stop him from realizing what he has said he will.
Not to “give his word.” Not to “promise.” The simple act of talking has set in motion the act of doing.
Talking and doing are the same action.
7. CHUGO – Duty and Loyalty.
For the samurai, having done or said something, means that “something” belongs to him. Is responsible for it and all the consequences that follow.
A samurai is immensely loyal to those under their care. For those of who is responsible, remains fiercely loyal.
The words of a man are like his fingerprints, you can follow wherever he goes.
