El hombre que se inventó a sí mismo // The man who invented himself (by Duane Michals, 1970)

The man who invented himself

“Everything that he experienced in his lifetime was his invention. He invented the trees and the stars and all things visible and invisible. At this moment he is inventing me writing this and you reading this. Yes you too are his invention. But if you told him this he would not understand and deny it. Even though all things that he thought possible became possible, and all thing that he thought impossible were impossible. And in the end he would even invent his own death. He would never know that he had invented it all.”
