Rafael Levenfeld destaca que la obra de Arissa, a diferencia de los colegas profesionalizados en el fotoperiodismo o que se pasaron al uso propagandistico de la fotografía durante la guerra civil, extraía sus temas de lo cotidiano, sin necesidad de recurrir a escenarios épicos, «llevando al súmmum de la expresividad y la plasticidad lo que otros consideraban vulgar» y utilizando constantemente como elementos formales «las luces, las sombras y los reflejos».

Rafael Levenfeld highlights the work of Arissa, unlike colleagues professionalized in photojournalism or defected to the propagandistic use of photography during the civil war, drew his themes from everyday life, without resorting to epic scenarios, “carrying the pinnacle of expressiveness and plasticity what others considered vulgar” and using constantly as formal elements “lights, shadows and reflections.”
