Jorge Luis Borges, Central Park, NYC (by Diane Arbus, 1969)

Jorge Luis Borges mismo.

“THE PARADOX OF BLIND” by Philip Martin Yriart:

It seems a paradox worthy of the best stories of Jorge Luis Borges, that blind man’s best friend was… a keen amateur photographer; that the blind man who despised everything foreign and extremely perishable be portrayed by… an internationally renowned fashion photographer for Vogue magazine; that the best and most extensive gallery of his photographic portraits were done by the great master of that art in his country… who never could have the satisfaction that his admired model could see ever the result of his admirable work.

It is well known that the blind man had a horror of mirrors, which are a form of photo shooting.

That blind man’s best friend was Adolfo Bioy Casares; the famous Vogue fashion photographer was Diane Arbus; the master of portrait photography was Eduardo Comesaña.

And that blind was… Jorge Luis Borges himself.
